Open Work is a concept that allows for multiple interpretations of work by both artists and the public.
A feature of this concept is that the artwork is simultaneously constituted by the artist, the public, and chance. Once a year, BMW Open Work invites an artist to create a revolutionary work inspired by BMW.
Exhibition
Dorten’s task was to design a new logo for BMW Open Work. The first artist commissioned for this project was Olivia Erlanger, a renowned sculptor, who created a piece titled “Body Electric.” This profound sensory exhibition was intended to raise questions about humanity’s relationship to natural spectacles and technology. The focus was on how humans and their technologies have changed the natural world and how our perception of what is considered natural has been altered and mediated by the technologies that surround us.
